Godzilla Unleashed Info, No Online Planned. [face_sad]

Some news about Godzilla Unleashed for Wii. Wether or not you're familiar with the Godzilla universe is irrelevant when talking about this game. It just sounds too cool to not care about it. Basically all of the monsters from the Godzilla franchise have been divided up into four "Factions" and each faction has it's own role/part in the overall story of the game. Players will also be able to determine how the story will play based on choices they make within the game and who they choose to team up with. Here's a rundown of the controls from the latest issue of Game Informer:

"...The Wii's nunchuck handles moving and jumping while the wiimote dished out all the attacks. With these controls, monsters will now be able to perform all primary actions independent of their movement. For example, Godzilla can now walk in one direction while attacking an enemy with his claws in another, fire a weapon at a different enemy and swing his tail at a third target, all at the same time. No wonder this guy is so good at destroying Tokyo."

As far as the story goes, it's pretty standard sci-fi fare. Mysterious crystals have been slowly growing inside the Earth's core for thousands of years and...something bad happens! Anyway Pipeworks (the developer) has created an all new damage system for the varied environments in the game. Basically the buildings and such are all fully destructible in the levels and the new engine provides even more realistic damage effects than previous titles. Finally after an epic battle you're able to sweep through the level to marvel at the level of destruction that you have caused. Who knew that a Godzilla game would ever be this deep or story driven? GI aslo confirms that there is no online multiplayer planned, but hopes they'll fix that by release. I'm not holding my breath. After finding out these details, this game is quickly becoming one of my must have games of the fall. Godzilla Unleashed is scheduled to be released by Atari sometime later this year. Stay tuned to the Wiicast for more details.
